People & Bikes

Here's just a few of the folks who have stayed with us:

From MTA FL

This is probably one of the most interesting rides we had stay at the campground in 2009 -
a true VW powered trike.  The owner, Ken, sent us some photos after he got home that he
took while he was here. We both fell in love with this shot of the trike in front of Bald River Falls.

United States Army MAJ Harting brought members of his unit who ride from Camp Atterbury, IN.  Here is what one of the members had to say about their trip:

2/338th Infantry Regiment Inaugural Ride

September 11, 2008 - The Talon Motorcycle Association was formed and to mark its grandure, an annual ride was started to honor those who serve, have served, and made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our great nation.  The 380 mile trip down to Hunt's Lodge from camp Atterbury, IN made for a spectacular opening.

While here, these "Talon" soldiers rode the Dragon's Tail, the Devil's Triangle as well as several hundreds of miles in three days.  Not only is it our dedicated profession to serve but the emphasis on motorcycle safety was taken to a new level.  We pay homage to our fallen brothers and sisters and take faith in a nation that allows the freedom to ride.

That same person also wrote this note:

Thanks for the warning, guys!  We're looking forward to your next visit already.  :o)  In all seriousness, we're honored to have been chosen to be part of your experience, and we'd like to go on the record that we really appreciate what the service members of our country's armed forces do.

You can see more pictures from their visit in the Picassa album we've set up for them.

Photo by guest Brad Prichett.  Thanks Brad!

Richard hails from Denmark.  He had the opportunity to spend 3 weeks in the USA with his new-to-him V65 Sabre, and he chose to spend some of that time with us.  To say it was the trip of a lifetime for him would be an understatement, and we feel very priveledged to have been a part of it.

From our Opening Season:

Meet Robin & Harv from Pennsylvania:

We don't know when the wedding will be, but we know they were engaged on July 17, 2007, in Cabin #1.  They're the first couple to become engaged while staying at the Lodge.  Robin made the reservations way back in March and asked if we'd mind hanging a banner in their cabin for her.

Then she had to wait.  Then they were delayed a day in their arrival.  Then, when they got here and checked in, Harv wanted to talk a bit about their trip in and the troubles they'd run into, and they'd had a few.  I thought the poor girl was going to pop before they made it into their cabin.

It took him a while to spot this over the door.  He was speechless.

Pictures from the StromTrooper gathering in June/July, 2007:

The guy in the white shirt is from British Columbia.  The one in the red shirt is from
Hungary.  They both drove in and rented some KTMs from
Cherohala Cycle Rentals
located in Robbinsville.  They had a blast!

Repairing Dragon bites

Some other folks from other places:

You can't make them out very well in this picture, but 4 friendly folks from Texas are unwinding after a day of fighting the Dragon.  They were some of our very first guests after opening.

This guy came from northern Indiana, pulling his dirt bike with his ST1300 on a home made trailer.  Then when he got here, he did more off-road riding with his ST than he did with the dirt bike!

Katherine hails from Michigan.  Here she is with her V-Strom.  Her other bike is a TDM.

What better way to end the day than to relax and tell lies with your buddies?  You can use the pavilion, the large fire-ring, or sit around one of the smaller ones we will be putting in later.
